Hot Springs moves top 2-0, run past McCook Central-Montrose 41-0

The Hot Springs Bison oved to 2-0 in impressive form once again with a 41-0 win over McCook Central-Montrose Saturday night in Salem.
The Bison jumped out to a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Hot Springs has now outscored its opponents 96-0 after two games this season.
The Bison got on the board with three touchdowns in the first quarter by three different players. Braden Peterson started things off with a 36-yard TD pass from Colin Iverson, followed by a 25-yard run for a score by Camron Maciejewski and a 3-yard run by Iverson. Josh Kleinsasser kicked all three extra points.
Maciejewski and Peterson both scored on short runs in the second quarter on 4 and 5 yards respectively for a 34-0 halftime lead.
Maciejewski closed the scoring in the third quarter on a 55-yard run.
The Bison finished with 316 yards of total offense – 280 on the ground and 36 threw the air. Maciejewski led the way with 133 yards on 16 carries, followed by Peterson with 87 yards on four rushes and Iverson with 41 yards on 11 carries.
Iverson was 1-of-6 passing for 36 yards.
The Bison defense held McCook Central-Montrose to 54 yards of total offense – 73 yards passing and a minus 19 yards on the ground. Hot Springs had three takeaways, all on interceptions. Iverson had two interceptions and the other by Colt Madron.
Maciejewski finished with three solo tackles and seven assisted tackles, two tackles for a loss and one quarterback sack. Caleb Rickenbach added three solo tackles and four assisted tackles, two stops for a loss and one quarterback sack.
Gabe Maurer added one solo tackle and eight assisted tackles, with Aidyn Janis chipped in with one solo tackle, five assisted tackles and one quarterback sack.
The Bison return to action Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Lakota Tech at the Red Cloud field.
